Outdoor Track and Field Tryouts begin February 13, 2013

NFHS 2013 Outdoor Track and Field Tryouts

Testing Week will be held Wednesday, February 13th – Monday, February 25th.
*All athletes that did not compete in Indoor Track and Field or quit before the end, must go through the testing process, even if you were on the Outdoor Track/Cross-country teams last year.

The first week will be strength and conditioning, the second week will be fitness testing and skills assessment in the following areas:
• Fly 30 meter Speed Test
• Broad Jump
• 1600 M Run
• 400 M Run
• Agility Drills
• Sit-Ups and Push ups
• Pull Ups
• Dips

Tryout Rules

• Athletes must be in attendance everyday of the tryout.
• Athletes must have a completed NFHS physical form to hand in before the 13^th of February or you will not be allowed to try out.
• Athletes must demonstrate an interest in becoming a part of a competitive varsity sport that requires a HIGH LEVEL OF COMMITMENT

Criteria

Athletes will be judged on:
• Attendance every day is mandatory
• Athletic potential in an area of track and field
• Work ethic, Sportsmanship and competitiveness
• Attitude
After the Testing Week
The roster will be posted in Stadium with Event Groups on Tuesday, February 26th.
Practice is every day from 4:05 to 6:15.

If you cannot make this COMMITMENT, please DO NOT come out.

Schedule

Regular season meets are on Thursday evenings from March through May. We will also attend some Saturday meets which are larger and more competitive. Conference Championship will be on a Tuesday in late April. Championship meets are in early May. More team information will be given out during and after the tryout weeks.
